Rideau Public School
Weekly Memo January 26-29
Bonjour Rideau Families,
I hope you are somewhere warm and cozy today. Looks like quite the weather we have in store for this afternoon and tonight - stay safe!
Your feedback is welcomed for next year’s School Year Calendar. Please take a few minutes to review the options and fill out the survey which will be open until February 9th.
School Year Calendar Info and Survey
The Environment Club is looking for donations of materials for a winter seed sowing project. This spring, we will (hopefully!) plant out some seedlings to revitalize the school’s front garden. If you have any of these items on hand, please consider sending them in by Feb 9:
- Clear 2L plastic drink bottles in the “hourglass” style, empty & clean, such as this:
- Potting soil or seed starting mix labelled for outdoor use (maybe you have a partial bag gathering dust?)
- Flower seeds! Native/perennial/pollinator-friendly/sun-loving types preferred, such as (but not limited to!): echinacea (cone flower), rudbeckia (black eyed susan), aster, lupin, false sunflower (heliopsis, oxeye sunflower), coreopsis (tickseed), wild columbine, bergamot, milkweed
Frontenacs Game
We have had great turnouts and have enjoyed seeing our Rideau Rhinos out with families cheering on our local hockey team! We now have another Ticketmaster link to share for the Fronts Fight Cancer game February 21st. We will be raffling off 7 pairs of tickets to the game that students can win by bringing items to donate to the Food Bank between January 19 to January 29. Each student is eligible for one raffle ticket, and a donation of any amount (5 items or 1 item) is good for one raffle ticket for the draw. Winners will be announced on Thursday the 29th so families who don’t win still have plenty of time to purchase tickets!
