Rideau Public School - Weekly Memo Sept. 8-12
Back into routines!
Our first week is behind us. Students were thrilled to see their friends. We started the year on the right foot as everyone settled back into routine easily.
You will be happy to know that our school does not have to reorganize this year, we are remaining at 20 classrooms with 470 students.
Construction continues on the MacDonnell street side of the yard. It is progressing fast. We hope to have access to the yard by the end of the month, which will help reduce the congestion at drop off and pick up time.
Speaking of congestion, please continue to be extra careful when driving around the school at drop off and dismissal time. There is a lot of traffic. Obey the signs and don't park on the east side of Toronto street.
If you are picking up your children at the end of the day, please wait outside of the yard until 3:30. Classes do not officially end until 3:35 which means that even if students are on yards, they are most likely in a gym class with their teachers.
Last Thursday was our first Meet and Greet for parents and Parent Council. The rain put a damper on our gathering. Please join us on Tuesday at 6:30 in the staffroom (the "Girls" entrance on Toronto street will be unlocked) and we offer babysitting. This year's Parent Council AGM will be on September 17 at 6:30 in the staff room. If you would like to nominate yourself, complete this form. You have to complete the form every year, even if you were on council last year. If you prefer a paper form, we have them at the office.
If you have any questions or wonderings about your child at school, reach out to your child's teacher. Our staff is most approachable and will happily answer your questions.
Have a great week!
Valerie Arsenault, Principal

Hot Lunch Orders
Hot lunch days are back! We are happy to be able to provide the opportunity to order a hot lunch again this year through LunchBox. This will start the week of September 15 and you will have until noon on the 14th to place your order. We will continue with the Little Caesars' pizza on Tuesday, Paradiso on Wednesday, Pita Pit on Thursday and Edo Japan on Friday.
The LunchBox website is very user friendly and it should only take a couple of minutes to set up an account online. If you already have an account, please re-assign your child to the appropriate teacher for this school year. Hot lunch orders will continue to support student activities with a small portion of each sale coming back to our school. The funds raised help subsidize field trips, buy consumables for the class, repair or enhance technology and pay for special events at the school.
