Dear Families,
We want to inform you about a potential disruption to bus and van transportation by Stock Transportation, one of Tri-Board Transportation’s service providers. As communicated in February, this service disruption is due to ongoing contract negotiations between drivers and monitors, and their employer, Stock Transportation.
Tri-Board Transportation has been made aware that on Monday, March 17, Stock Drivers and Monitors voted against the tentative agreement reached in February. A disruption to transportation services is possible and Tri-Board Transportation will provide an update as soon as they have more information. Families are asked to monitor bus status alerts and Tri-Board’s website (triboard.ca) for updates. A suspension of services will be reflected in BusPlanner as cancellations posted daily, for those who are subscribed to bus status alerts. A list of daily cancellations can also be viewed on Tri-Board’s website.
In the event of a service disruption, affected families will need to make alternative arrangements for their students' travel to and from school. Routes not operated by Stock Transportation will continue to operate as planned, subject to regular cancellations or delays (e.g., due to weather conditions).
We recognize that any disruption of services will affect students and their families, and we will work together to minimize any impact this may cause on student learning.
As neither Tri-Board nor the school boards are the employer, we are not at the negotiating table. We are hopeful that negotiations will resume as soon as possible. We believe bus drivers and bus monitors do an excellent job transporting our students safely to and from school, and we hope that both parties can reach an agreement soon.
The safety of our students remains our priority, and if service disruption does occur, our school communities will work collaboratively to ensure a safe drop off and pick up zone for all students.
We remain committed to keeping families informed as new information becomes available and encourage you to check the Tri-Board and school board websites often for the latest news and updates.
Thank you,
Limestone District School Board
