Rideau Public School
Weekly Memo February 17-20
Bonjour Rideau Families,
I hope you are all enjoying your long weekend and this mild weather we are finally having! Last week we had a school-wide assembly where we saw performances from classes, saw pictures of staff when they were in elementary school, and again we discussed expectations for behaviour on the yard as we continue to have too much rough play and hands-on behaviour. Many find it difficult to be allowed to playfully wrestle with siblings or parents at home and then understand that this is not allowed at school. We have several students coming to the office each day because they were accidentally hurt during rough play. We appreciate you reviewing the expectations of hands-off play at school with your child.
The Glow Dance was a hit with students on Friday! A huge thank you to the volunteers from parent council who helped with bracelets, playlists from student song requests, and decorations! If you are interested in volunteering with events like this one at school, please consider joining our very active and supportive parent council!

Our Parent Council is recruiting volunteers for Bingo!
- Rideau Public School is now a registered charity for bingo fundraising at Community Spirit Gaming Centre at 900 Montreal Street.
- Volunteer shifts are two hours long and are various times including during the day, evening, and weekends.
- Duties are very light: mostly greeting people, walking around the bingo hall, and getting a runner's attention if someone gets a bingo.
- Shifts are very lucrative: each two-hour shift earns about $600 for our library renovations, kindergarten yard shade, and many other initiatives for students.
- There are currently only two shifts a month so the time commitment is low. However, volunteers must be reliable and punctual.
If you are up for joining their crew of bingo volunteers, please fill out this form and someone will be in touch with you!
