Rideau Public School

Weekly Memo June 22-26

Rideau PS

Bonjour Rideau Families,

As we wrap up this year, I want to thank all families for their support of the school. Rideau is a very special place and it has a lot to do with the ongoing involvement of parents and guardians.

If you are moving schools next year, please let us know as we are creating class lists. This information will be helpful to us and to your new school.

Staff update - the board's staffing committee completed their placement and the following staff will join us next year:

Mme Parson - formerly grade 1/2 will teach kindergarten with Mme Graham

Mme Condlln Pratt will teach kindergarten with Mme Sarah

Mme Jaynes will teach kindergarten with Mme Dusharm

Mme Bertrand will teach grade 1

Mme Lowry will teach grade 1/2

Mme Bettas will be SST for term 1 while Mme Lecompte is on maternity leave

Mme K and Kyle are coming back as EAs next year

We are saying goodbye to Mlle Sveinson, Mme Kim and Mme Gazdik who are retiring.

We are also saying goodbye to Mme Norris who will be traveling next year and Mme Kennedy who will be Vice-Principal at Amherstview Public School.

We still have not received the yearbook. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it arrives this week. If not, please note that the school is open the week after the PA day, so it is possible to pick it up then.

Please take time this week to come and get your children's clothes from the Lost and Found. Anything left on July 2 will go to donation centres. There are some high quality clothes in there.

Looking for something to do this summer? Consider EarlyON! It is a free program for kids up to age 6 and their families. They provide toys and activities for the kids, and a place for parents to connect with each other. They also can talk with parents if they are having concerns about their child, and give advice if they need it. You do need to pre-register before you come in, or parents can register on site. There are many locations around Kingston, but the main one is on Weller. The Weller location offers outdoor activities as well, weather permitting. They also have a French EarlyON (families must speak to their children in French while attending) called OnYVas!

There are also great activities at our local public libraries.

I was mistaken last week, we have hot lunches this week as well. You can order until noon.

This week:

June 22 - Grade 6 Celebration, Grade 3 T-ball tournament, some kinder classes to Victoria Splash Pad

June 23 - Grade 2 Toronto Zoo, grade 1 fun day

June 24 - Year End Assembly, Report Cards go home

June 25 - Ashura, Last Day of School

June 26 - PA Day for staff

Enjoy this beautiful sunny day! If I don't see you before the end of the week, have a wonderful and safe summer!
