Weekly Memo September 21-25
Bonjour Rideau Families,
It was great to see so many parents joining us at the Meet and Greet last Tuesday, welcome to the team! If you missed it, don't worry, our first School Council meeting for elections and AGM is on Tuesday September 29 at 3:45. You can come in through the front door or the side door. We will meet in the staff room and babysitting is available. You can nominate yourself by following this link: Rideau Public School - Parent Council Nomination Form 2026-2027 – Fill out form
Wasps - As many of you know, the wasps are in great numbers this year and they are quite angry. Many students and staff have been stung. Please know that traps have been installed and we are doing our best to mitigate their presence. If a child gets stung, they come to the office here we administer first aid. If it is their first time being stung, we keep them for observation in case an allergic reaction develops. If it were the case, we have generic EpiPen to administer.
Hot Lunches - Everything I tried in our hot lunch selection was delicious. Although it seems soup might not be the greatest selection for kindergarten students. That may be something to consider.
Open House - Families are invited to come and meet their child's teacher on September 24 from 4:30 to 5:30. This is not a BBQ (way too many wasps to eat outside); it is an opportunity to meet the teacher and visit the school. We look forward to seeing you.
Safe and Accepting School Team - There has been a great interest in the parent position. I will reach out this week to the selected participant.
Terry Fox - Our website is up and running for donation. Our school will run on September 28.
Community Partners - Maltby, BGC and Girls Inc. have information to share with families. You will find it in the posters below.
