Rideau Public School Weekly Memo November 2-6
Bonjour Rideau Families,
What a great time we had at Boo Bash last week! A huge thank you goes out to Parent Council who organized this fun event. It would not be possible without all your time, dedication and initiative.
An update from the Rideau Library Committee - On the October PA Day, a small but very mighty crew of volunteers spent hours sorting, moving, organizing, and alphabetizing books in our school library. We are so, so grateful for your time and effort and we hope you remembered to stretch after moving all those books! Stay tuned for more library work bees.
Rideau does not have a school librarian, and the high school volunteer who reshelved the books has gone off to university, so we are always looking for library helpers to reshelve or sort books! Please get in touch with Cat (catlondon@gmail.com) if you are interested in helping with the library.
Brave Workshops - This week, students will learn about healthy relationships and building self-confidence in the face of peer conflicts.
WISE – Queen's Engineering Program is offering a STEM opportunities for girls grades 3-6. 50 students have registered for the workshops. Workshops will start the week of November 9. Tuesday for grade 3, Wednesday for grade 4 and Thursday for grades 5-6. It will be during second recess.
Kinder Social - You have a child in kindergarten? Come and meet other families on November 17. It will be a great opportunity to mingle and meet other families.
Bookfair - Mark your calendar, the bookfair will take place during the week of December 7. It will be in the library this week. I will need volunteers to help me run this event. A sign up sheet will go out later in November.

Information & Events
Kingston Frontenac Public Library
The Kingston Frontenac Public Library is pleased to offer Bilingual Read & Play, a free six-week program for emergent French readers in Grades 1-3.
The program will run on Tuesday evenings from November 10 to December 15 at KFPL's Isabel Turner Branch.
Designed for children who would benefit from extra practice and encouragement, Bilingual Read & Play helps participants strengthen their French reading skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Children will learn alongside friendly teen volunteers who are fluent French readers and speakers. Together, they will enjoy stories, games, conversation, and other interactive activities that make learning French fun. Through guided reading, language-rich play, and positive interactions with peers and mentors, participants will build their reading, listening, and speaking skills while gaining confidence in using French.
This program is ideal for children who are still developing their French language abilities. It is not intended for children who are already fluent French readers and speakers.
Registration is free and available through KFPL's website. Parents and caregivers can register their child online.
