Weekly Memo February 2-6

Rideau PS

Bonjour Rideau Families,

Bonjour Rideau Families,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far. My fingers and toes are crossed for a full week without bus cancellations!

Black History Month Opening Ceremony

All students, staff, families, and community members are invited to join us for an evening of community, connection, and celebration with food, music, and dancing! Featuring: Kids Zone with "Ruthy's Reading Room," and a performance by Cassel Miles as Josiah Henson. More information can be found HERE

Frontenacs Game

We have had great turnouts and have enjoyed seeing our Rideau Rhinos out with families cheering on our local hockey team! We now have another Ticketmaster link to share for the Fronts Fight Cancer game February 21st. We collected lots of food for the Food Bank, thanks to your donations over the past 2 weeks! Our ticket winners were announced on Thursday afternoon and they will be bringing their tickets home next week. Those families will be contacted directly on Monday.

Purchase your tickets here: Kingston Frontenacs Game - Rideau

Environment Club

The Environment Club is looking for donations of materials for a winter seed sowing project. This spring, we will (hopefully!) plant out some seedlings to revitalize the school’s front garden. If you have any of these items on hand, please consider sending them in by Feb 9:

-          Clear 2L plastic drink bottles in the “hourglass” style, empty & clean, such as this:

-          Potting soil or seed starting mix labelled for outdoor use (maybe you have a partial bag gathering dust?)

-          Flower seeds! Native/perennial/pollinator-friendly/sun-loving types preferred, such as (but not limited to!): echinacea (cone flower), rudbeckia (black eyed susan), aster, lupin, false sunflower (heliopsis, oxeye sunflower), coreopsis (tickseed), wild columbine, bergamot, milkweed
